"Red Siren is a hot-wired Fleetwood Mac!" -- Jim Steinman, producer, Def Leppard, Meatloaf, etc.
"Robert and Kristin are the new Lindsey and Stevie!"-- Jimmy Iovine, founder, Death Row Records, co-inventor of Beats Electronics headphones and producer, U2, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Stevie Nicks, etc.
Kristin Massey and Robert Haas have held an imperishable love of the music and collective musical talents of Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham ever since they discovered the first Led Zeppelin album. The impetus to create the Led Siren album was born of their adoration and passion for the early Zeppelin studio recordings that have thrilled hundreds of millions of fans for the last half-century.
The Led Siren album is Kristin and Robert’s attempt to recreate more than just a collection of songs; it is their labor of love to recapture a now extinct, supercharged musical milieu using modern recording techniques. Their mission was to recreate the danger, excitement, and joy of Led Zeppelin’s music for those who may have experienced sonic fatigue due to decades of repetitive listening.
What about the now vintage amps, guitars, keyboards, and effects pedals that Led Zeppelin used? Kristin and Robert did their research to accurately source them. Fortunately, they already had much of the vintage gear required to recreate the sounds crafted by Zeppelin’s members, producers, and engineers. The few items they lacked were purchased or rented. Their recording chain consisted of vintage/contemporary outboard gear patched into into Pro Tools Ultimate digital audio workstation and mixed through Robert’s SSL console. Robert help popularize hard disk recording, having made musical history in 1988 when he co-produced the first all digital direct-to-disk rock album in history during his time with Kristin as Mercury/Polygram recording artists (All Is Forgiven; Red Siren, 1989).
Did the Led Siren project achieve its lofty goals? Only you, the listener, can answer that question. A number of early reviewers have noted that they found themselves able to once again enjoy the magic of Led Zeppelin’s music after years of sonic weariness due to overexposure to the original recordings. If you suffer from “Zeppelin fatigue,” we hope that by listening to the Led Siren album you will be able to feel and enjoy the passion, energy, and danger of Led Zeppelin’s musical majesty as you once did.
Should you find yourself in that camp, then we’ve achieved our mission.
